Preflight vs Metricool: scheduler against analytics

Metricool and Preflight compared on brand pricing, the X add-on, approvals, API and MCP, networks and pre-publish checks. October 2026 figures, both ways.

Metricool is an analytics product from Spain that grew a scheduler; Preflight is a scheduler from the Czech Republic that grew analytics. That order explains most of the differences on this page. If you choose by reports, Metricool wins; if you choose by what happens between "schedule" and "published", Preflight does. The wider field at eight channels is on Metricool alternatives.

    Where Metricool is ahead

    • Analytics. Nobody at this price matches it: web traffic, Google and Meta ads, competitor accounts, a Looker Studio connector, and reports clients recognise. Preflight's analytics are per-post and per-network, with YouTube retention curves and a monthly PDF; they are not a reporting suite.
    • MCP for nothing. Metricool's MCP server is on the free plan. Preflight's MCP server starts on Pro.
    • X with media, Google Business Profile, Twitch, LinkedIn Pages. Preflight has none of the four today; LinkedIn Pages wait on LinkedIn's review.
    • One brand, eight networks, $25. For a single brand on every network Metricool's model is fair. It becomes expensive when a creator runs two Instagram accounts, because that is two brands.

    Where Preflight is ahead

    • Price for people with more than one account per network. $13 for eight channels of any mix; $24 for twenty channels, three users, the API and approvals. Plan contents are on the pricing page.
    • It checks first. Instagram's 30 hashtags, 20 mentions and JPEG-only pictures between 4:5 and 1.91:1; TikTok's 23 to 60 fps and the per-creator duration cap; Threads' 500 bytes; YouTube's 5,000 bytes. The composer refuses or warns before anything is uploaded, and the same check is validate_post for an assistant. The full list is on the limits page.
    • Community networks. Discord, Telegram, Mastodon and Tumblr, each with its own options, where Metricool has none.
    • Approvals at $24, not $67. A client opens a link, sees the post per network, approves or asks for a change; no account, one decision per link.
    • Big video, uploaded in parts that resume, and YouTube videos handed to YouTube early so they go live at the minute.
    • EU hosting on paper.

    What they share

A free plan, a calendar, a queue, best-time suggestions, hashtag groups, a comments inbox, first comments on Instagram and Facebook, per-network captions, CSV import, Bluesky and Threads, and an MCP server.

    Who should choose which

Choose Metricool if reports are the deliverable: ads, web and social in one dashboard, competitor benchmarks, Looker Studio. Choose it too if you need X with pictures, or an MCP server without paying.

Choose Preflight if you run several accounts on the same network, post to Discord, Telegram or Mastodon, want posts validated before they leave, or need approvals and an API for $24 rather than $67.
