The best Pinterest scheduler depends on one question: do you only post to Pinterest, or to Pinterest and other networks? Pinterest's own scheduler is free but handles one pin at a time. A Pinterest-first tool such as Tailwind is built around pins and charges for it. A multi-network scheduler such as Preflight has a free plan that includes Pinterest next to eleven other networks. This page compares the three by what each does and costs, with the figures dated.
The three kinds of Pinterest scheduler
| Pinterest's own scheduler | Tailwind | Preflight | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Built into Pinterest | A tool made for Pinterest | A scheduler for twelve networks |
| Cost | Free | Paid; Pin Scheduling and Creation shows $17.99 a month (and $29.99 on the same page) | Free plan: 3 channels, 20 publishes a month |
| Needs | A business account | A Pinterest account | A Pinterest account |
| Other networks | No | Pinterest-first | Yes, all twelve |
| API and AI assistant | No | Not stated on its pricing page | Yes, on every plan |
Tailwind's figures are from its pricing page read on 6 November 2026. The page shows two prices for each plan with a "Save 40%" switch and does not label which is monthly, so check it before you buy. It states 300 credits a month for Pin Scheduling and Creation, one credit per scheduled pin, and the same credits cover other features. It does not say what the free start includes.
Pinterest's own scheduler
For a business account, Pinterest lets you schedule a pin up to 30 days ahead, one pin at a time, with up to 10 pins scheduled at once. The picture or video of a scheduled pin cannot be changed afterwards (Pinterest Help, read 1 November 2026). That is enough for a few pins a week. It stops being enough when you want a month in one sitting, the same post on other networks, or a client to approve first.
A multi-network scheduler for Pinterest
Pinterest's API has no field for a future publish time, so a tool holds the pin and creates it when the time comes. That has two effects you should know: a pin scheduled in Preflight does not appear in Pinterest's own scheduled list, and a board is required, chosen for every pin, because Pinterest refuses a pin without one. Details are on how to schedule Pinterest pins. Preflight checks the limits for you: a title of up to 100 characters, a description of up to 800 and alt text of up to 500, and it takes the first line of your text as the title.
On the free plan, Pinterest counts like any other channel, so three channels can be Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn at no cost. Starter, at $13 a month, has eight channels and 150 publishes a month. See pricing.
Which one to choose
- Only Pinterest, many pins a week, and you want its keyword and engagement tools: a Pinterest-first tool such as Tailwind is built for that.
- A few pins a week and nothing else: Pinterest's own scheduler is free.
- Pinterest as one of several networks, a client who approves posts, or scheduling from code or an AI assistant: a multi-network scheduler.
What none of them can do
A tool cannot read or answer comments on a pin, because Pinterest's API reports only their number, and it cannot save other people's pins. See the limits for the full list.

Questions people ask
- What is the best Pinterest scheduler?
- It depends on how you post. Pinterest's own scheduler is free for one pin at a time, Tailwind is built only for Pinterest and is paid, and a multi-network scheduler such as Preflight covers Pinterest with other networks and has a free plan.
- Is there a free Pinterest scheduler?
- Yes. Pinterest schedules pins for business accounts at no cost, and the free Preflight plan includes Pinterest with three channels and 20 publishes a month.
- How far ahead can I schedule Pinterest pins?
- In Pinterest's own scheduler, up to 30 days ahead, one pin at a time, with up to 10 scheduled at once, according to Pinterest Help.
- How much does Tailwind cost for Pinterest?
- Its pricing page, read on 6 November 2026, shows $17.99 and $29.99 a month for Pin Scheduling and Creation, with a Save 40% switch and 300 credits a month. It does not label which price is monthly, so confirm on the page.
- Why does a scheduled Pinterest pin need a board?
- Pinterest writes every pin to a board and its API refuses a pin without a valid one, so a board is chosen for each pin.
