Yes, Telegram can schedule a message by itself: type it in your channel or chat, hold the Send button and choose *Schedule message*, then pick the day and time. It is free and needs nothing else. A scheduling tool is for the cases where the same announcement also has to go to other networks, where someone has to approve it first, or where you run several channels. This page covers both routes and the limits that make a scheduled message fail.

    Scheduling in Telegram itself

    1. Open the channel, group or chat and write the message.
    2. Hold the Send button, or right-click it on desktop.
    3. Choose *Schedule message* and pick the date and time.
    4. Scheduled messages are listed in the chat, where they can be edited, sent early or deleted.

That is the whole feature, and it is enough for a single channel.

    Scheduling with a tool

A tool posts to a channel through a bot that you own. You create it with @BotFather, add it to the channel as an administrator with the right to post messages, and paste the token and the channel's name into the tool. The bot posts as the channel. Preflight connects this way, and one bot can serve several channels, each channel being one connection on the plan's count.

Limits that decide whether a message goes out

    Limit
    Text-only message4,096 characters
Caption on a photo or video1,024 characters
PhotosUp to 10 in an album, 10 MB each
VideoUp to 50 MB through the Bot API
Silent, pin, protect content, spoiler, link previewOptions per post
Editing and deletingYes, through the bot

The two that catch people are the 1,024-character caption and the 50 MB video through the Bot API, which is less than the app allows by hand. The full table is on the Telegram limits page and the walkthrough on scheduling to Telegram.

Scheduling a Telegram post in Preflight

    1. Connect the bot and the channel.
    2. Write the post and tick Telegram next to the other networks you want.
    3. Read the counter: it shows 4,096 for a text post and 1,024 when there is media, and a video over 50 MB is refused before upload.
    4. Pick the minute, silent or pinned if needed, and schedule.

Telegram is one channel on every plan, the free one included, and the API takes the same post. A post for Discord at the same minute is described on scheduling to Discord.

    Which route to pick

    • One channel, text and pictures: the built-in schedule.
    • Several networks or channels, approval, or the API: a scheduler.

Native steps are Telegram's own interface; the limits are from the Bot API as described on the Telegram pages of this site, checked 1 November 2026.
