Discord is where a creator's community actually lives, and it has no scheduler for announcements. Discord's own "scheduled events" are calendar entries, not posts. If the Tuesday video goes out at 16:00 and the announcement in #announcements should go out at 16:00 too, somebody is at a keyboard at 16:00, or a tool is.
Webhook, not bot
There are two ways a tool can post to a Discord channel. A bot is an application you invite to the server with permissions; it can read, moderate, respond. A webhook is a URL you create on one channel, and anything posted to that URL appears in that channel, with a name and avatar you choose. A webhook cannot read anything, cannot post anywhere else, and can be deleted from the channel settings in one click.
For scheduled announcements the webhook is the right tool: nothing to invite, nothing that can read your members' messages, one channel per URL. Preflight connects to Discord with a webhook: Channel settings, Integrations, Webhooks, New Webhook, copy the URL, paste it. Each channel is a separate connection; most servers connect two or three.
What a webhook post can hold
| Limit | |
|---|---|
| Text | 2,000 characters |
| Files | Up to 10 per message, 10 MB each (your server's boost level may raise it), 25 MB in total per message |
| Pictures and video | Both, mixed in one message |
| Username and avatar | Set per message; the webhook's defaults otherwise |
| Forum channels | A webhook on a forum channel must give a thread name; the post becomes a new thread |
| Silent | A flag that delivers without a notification |
| Embeds | Rich cards with title, description, image, colour |
| Editing and deleting | Yes, through the same webhook |
Markdown works in the text: bold, italics, code, spoilers, and <@&roleId> to mention a role if the webhook is allowed to.
Scheduling it
In Preflight, each webhook is a channel. Tick it with YouTube, TikTok and the rest, and the same post goes to the Discord channel at the same minute, with a per-network version of the text if the Discord one should say "it's up, watch here" rather than the Instagram caption. The composer checks the 2,000 characters, the 10 MB per file and the 25 MB per message, and on a forum channel asks for the thread name. Username, avatar and the silent flag are on the Discord settings card.
A published message can be edited or deleted from the post's page later.
What Discord does not give back
Nothing. A webhook has no read access, so there are no views, reactions or replies to report, and Preflight does not pretend otherwise: the Discord target shows "published" and the message link, and the analytics screen leaves Discord out.
Which schedulers support Discord
Few. Preflight and Postiz post to Discord channels natively in 2026. Buffer, Publer, Metricool, Later, Hootsuite, PostFast, Post Bridge and SocialBee do not. The remaining options are Discord bots built for scheduling inside one server, which work until the bot's hosting lapses and cannot post to your other networks.
Questions people ask
- Can you schedule messages in Discord?
- Not with Discord itself; scheduled events are calendar items, not posts. A tool posts through a webhook or a bot at the time.
- Is a webhook safe to give a scheduler?
- A webhook can only post to the one channel it was created on. It cannot read messages, join other channels or change settings, and deleting it from the channel's integrations page cuts it off at once.
- What is the Discord message limit?
- 2,000 characters of text, up to ten files of 10 MB each (more on boosted servers) and 25 MB per message in total.
